Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission is a commission formed under constitution of India in 1923 to ensure capability and sustainability in people. That time it was formed at Madras Public Service Commission.
British government established a public service commission in year 1923. The objective of commission was to examine the salary structure of the Indian civil services. The commission was formed with Britishers and Indian together. After sometime, it came under an act of the Madras Legislature in 1929. The Madras Service Commission became Madras Public Service Commission after constitution of some states. The headquarters of office was at Madras in the year 1957.
When the name of the state changed to Tamil Nadu, the commission also get new name Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission in year 1970. Tamil Nadu public service commission is headed by the chairman and fourteen other members appointed by government of Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission conducts examinations for service of the state recruitment. The examination and tests are held by the commission for the selection of right candidates.
The aim of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission is to create INDEPENDENT, IMPARTIAL, ETHICAL, EFFECTIVE AND CAPABLE constitution that can face the new challenges. It makes appointment to the various branches of department, grant promotions, transfer from one service to another, and transfer from one state to another and arrange the suitable way for it. It handles all disciplinary matters affecting to government servants.
The objective of the commission is the recruitment with free, fair and transparent process for the state civil services. It constantly updates its recruitment methodology. The commission safeguards the interest and integrity of public servants.
