The Department of Administrative Reform & Public Grievances, Government of India and the Government of Andhra Pradesh has established The Centre for Good Governance (CGG) from a financial grant received from the department of international development, U.K. in 2001. The board is chaired by the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. The other members include Home Minister, Minister for I & PR and Minister for Marketing & Warehousing, the Chief Secretary to Government and key Government Secretaries, as well as distinguished personalities drawn from the private sector and civil society with expertise and interest in governance reforms.
CGG works with Ministers, senior officials, management experts, institutions and other stakeholders and people.
The main aim of CGG is to bring together the power of knowledge and technology and to become guide governance. Besides that, the activities of CGG are.
1) To undertakes action research programmes
2) To Provide professional advice to the members
3) To change management programmes for government department and agencies.
4) To help implement their reform agenda.
CGG works with so many objectives. The main objectives are,
1) For analyzing key issues in governance, work with government departments and other stakeholders.
2) To be helpful in government goals, objectives, policy priorities and reform agenda into tangible reform actions with focus on principles.
3) To create best practices, methodologies and tools in governance reforms with successful e-governance applications.
4) To provide technical support and advisory services to state and local governments, national and international organizations in various areas.
There are various resource groups in CGG such as Governance Resource Group, Urban Management Resource Group, Human Development Resource Group, Financial Management Resource Group, Management Development & Change Management Resource Group and E-Development Resource Group.
