An entrance examination of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is well-known as GATE. This year GATE (BT, CE, CH, CS, ME, PH, PI, CY, EC, EE, IN, MA, MT, XE and XL) exam was conducted in the month of February on 12th. And now on 15 March 2012 GATE 2012 results are available online for download. You can visit the official website of GATE http://gate.iitk.ac.in/gate2012/results.php.
The exam is conducted annually for admissions to various science and technology post-graduate programs. The exam consists of a single paper of 3 hours duration, which contains 65 questions carrying a maximum of 100 marks.
The IIT Delhi zone topped the successful list with 18, 927 candidate clearing the prestigious exam. Gate Results for IIT Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorke are available. Around 6,86,614 candidates appeared for the exam in this year.
In recent years, number of candidates is appearing more and more in GATE exam. The question paper consists of only multiple choice objective questions each having four choices for the answer. Out of 65 questions, 55 are based on candidate's chosen specialization or branch, while remaining 10 are to test his/her general aptitude.
